Food Pantry Ministry

Feeding the Hungry, Sharing God’s Love

Matthew 25:35

For 19 years, the First Baptist Church Food Pantry has been a source of hope and nourishment for the Brady community. What started as a small outreach has grown into a vital ministry, ensuring that families in need receive the food and support they require. We believe that serving others is a reflection of Christ’s love, and we are grateful for the opportunity to bless our neighbors through this ministry.

How the Food Pantry Works

  • Food Distribution takes place on the second Friday of each month.
  • Families sign up inside the church, where they receive a ticket for food assistance.
  • Each family receives:
    • An adult food box weighing 40-45 lbs
    • A children’s food box (if applicable) weighing 12-15 lbs
  • Volunteers are available to pray with those who request it, but prayer is not required to receive assistance.
  • Families then drive to the Family Life Center, where volunteers load their food boxes into their vehicle.

Providing Quality Food for Families
We are committed to offering nutritious and balanced food options, ensuring that each family receives a good variety of items, including:
  • 10-15 lbs of meat
  • Fresh and non-perishable items
  • Essential pantry staples for meal preparation

Where Our Food Comes From
  • Food is purchased monthly from the San Antonio Food Bank.
  • Volunteers pick up donated food from Walmart twice a week, helping to provide additional supplies for those in need.

Making an Impact in Brady

Each month, we serve 75-90 families, reaching 150-165 individuals, including 30-40 children. Every meal provided is an opportunity to share God’s love and kindness in a tangible way.

How the Food Pantry is Funded
This ministry is completely funded by donations and operates independently of the church budget. We are thankful for the generosity of those who give, making it possible to continue feeding and serving our community.

How You Can Get Involved
Pray – Lift up the families we serve and our volunteers who make this ministry possible.
Donate – Consider giving financially to support food purchases or donating non-perishable food items.
Volunteer – Join us on distribution days or throughout the month to help with pickups, sorting, and packing food.

A Heart for Serving
At First Baptist Church Brady, we believe that serving others is part of our calling as followers of Christ. The Food Pantry is more than just a place to get food—it’s a place of love, community, and hope. If you or someone you know is in need, we are here to help.
