What We Believe

Grounded in God’s Word, Centered on Christ, Led by the Spirit.

Our Core Beliefs

At First Baptist Church Brady, we believe that our faith is not built on personal opinions, traditions, or cultural trends, but on the unchanging truth of God’s Word (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Our core beliefs are not just theological statements—they define how we live, how we worship, and how we engage with the world.  Our faith is centered on Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, who came to redeem humanity through His life, death, and resurrection. We are led by the Holy Spirit, who empowers and equips us to fulfill our calling as the Church. We stand firm in God’s truth, knowing that His promises never fail (Isaiah 40:8).
The Bible – The Inspired and Authoritative Word of God
We believe the Bible is God’s inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word. It is the final authority in all matters of faith, doctrine, and Christian living.
  • Scripture is God-breathed (2 Timothy 3:16) and was written under the divine guidance of the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:20-21).
  • The Bible is completely trustworthy and without error, revealing God’s perfect will.
  • It is alive and active (Hebrews 4:12), convicting us of sin, guiding us in righteousness, and equipping us for every good work.
  • We commit to preaching, studying, and applying God’s Word faithfully, ensuring that all teachings align with Scripture.
God – One God in Three Persons
We believe in one true God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19).
  • God the Father – The sovereign Creator and Sustainer of all things (Genesis 1:1, Colossians 1:16-17). He is holy, just, and full of love and mercy.
  • God the Son (Jesus Christ) – The eternal Son of God, fully divine and fully human (John 1:1, Colossians 2:9). He came to save the world through His death and resurrection.
  • God the Holy Spirit – The presence of God dwelling within believers, guiding, convicting, and empowering them for ministry (John 16:13, Acts 1:8).
God is perfect in all His ways, and He desires a personal relationship with us, calling us to worship Him in spirit and truth (John 4:24).
Jesus Christ – The Only Way to Salvation
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the only Savior of the world. He is the center of our faith, the Lord of our lives, and the reason for our hope.
  • Jesus was born of a virgin (Matthew 1:23), lived a sinless life, and willingly gave Himself as the perfect sacrifice for our sins (2 Corinthians 5:21).
  • He died on the cross to bear the punishment for our sins, fulfilling God’s plan of redemption (Romans 5:8).
  • He rose bodily from the grave (Luke 24:6-7), proving His victory over sin and death.
  • He ascended to heaven (Acts 1:9-11) and is seated at the right hand of the Father, interceding for believers.
  • He will return again in glory to establish His eternal Kingdom and judge the living and the dead (Revelation 19:11-16).
Salvation is found in no one else but Jesus Christ (John 14:6, Acts 4:12). Faith in Him brings eternal life, while rejecting Him results in eternal separation from God.
Salvation – By Grace Alone, Through Faith Alone
This is where the desWe believe that salvation is a gift from God, not earned by works, but given by grace through faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9).
  • All people are born in sin and separated from God (Romans 3:23).
  • The penalty for sin is death (Romans 6:23), but through Christ’s sacrifice, we receive forgiveness and eternal life.
  • Salvation requires repentance and faith in Jesus Christ (Acts 3:19, Romans 10:9-10).
  • When we trust in Jesus, we are justified by His righteousness, adopted into God’s family, and sealed with the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:1, Galatians 4:7, Ephesians 1:13-14).
Salvation is permanent and secure in Christ, but true faith is always followed by a life of transformation, obedience, and spiritual growth. cription goes.
The Church – The Body of Christ
We believe the Church is not a building—it is the people of God, united in Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:22-23).
  • The Church exists to glorify God, make disciples, and spread the gospel to all nations (Matthew 28:19-20).
  • Every believer is a vital part of the Church, with unique gifts to serve the body (1 Corinthians 12:12-27).
  • The Church gathers to worship, teach, serve, encourage, and fulfill the mission of Christ.
  • The local church is responsible for baptism, the Lord’s Supper, and spiritual leadership according to Scripture.
As First Baptist Church Brady, we are committed to being a faithful, Spirit-led, and mission-driven church, making a difference in our community and beyond.
