How it All Started
887 – A Small Beginning with a Big Vision
In November 1887, eight faithful believers came together to establish First Baptist Church Brady. With a heart for worship and a commitment to spreading the gospel, they laid the foundation for a church that would stand as a beacon of faith in the Brady community.
1902-1903 – The First Church Building
The congregation built its first church home, a one-room frame building at 605 S. Elm St., which became the gathering place for worship, fellowship, and spiritual growth. By 1907, the building was officially dedicated, marking a new chapter for the growing church.
1924 – Expanding to Meet the Need
As the church family grew, so did the need for more space. In 1924, the basement of what would eventually be a three-story church building was completed and occupied.
1929 – A Three-Story Church Home
By November 1929, the second and third floors of the church building were completed, providing a larger space for worship, discipleship, and community outreach.

1944-1947 – Planting Missions in Brady
During this period, First Baptist Church Brady extended its reach by launching two missions:
1950s – A Season of Hardship and Faith
Despite a severe drought that devastated the region (the last good crop was in 1949), the church stepped out in faith and built a much-needed education building. Men of the church crushed rocks by hand to bring this project to life, demonstrating their dedication to the mission of the church.
1975 – Planning for the Future
On December 21, 1975, a long-range planning committee was formed to assess the church’s future needs. This committee would lay the groundwork for the biggest move in the church’s history.
1982 – A New Home for FBC Brady
With faith and generosity, First Baptist Church Brady purchased 5.6 acres of land from the G. Rollie White Foundation at 1103 West 17th Street and began construction on a new church building.
